It seems that fanfiction.net is living with a falsehood. Many writers once flocked to the site for one promal urge - writing fan fiction. It seems that now our privileges have been taken away. Now, fanfiction.net is using false pretenses. No longer is one allowed to post fan fiction. Fan fiction is a result of using creative talents on real personnas. The fictions are merely dreams of reality. No one is being hurt in any fiction, because it's purely fictional. A dream. A miriad of dreams, to be specific. Fan fictions are turning dreams into physical manifestations. Each writer enjoys others devulging in their talents. Nothing that anyone writes is true. It is only in the truth of our hearts. These are writings of what we dream. How can anyone lable a person's writing as wrong? Did those who wrote books on Jeffrey Dahmer, (insert other famous people here) have their dreams smashed? No, their fictions were thrown out to the public. They used real events, and real people to present their stories. Those in fanfiction.net use real people weaved with falsified pretenses. We are not hurting anyone. It is you who are hurting us, the writers. So, do you really want to explode our mirad of dreams? Or let us have the rights to our fictions that we deserve?

- I'm extremely angry to hear of this. First of all, what you are removing takes up a large portion of the site, and what once was a huge site will slowly grow less and less over time. Anyone and everyone who comes to fanfiction.net has one mission..to be able to have somewhere to show off their talents and read other people's work. Why would you want to take that away from us? Some of the best stories I have read have come from fanfiction.net, and I've met some great people through the site..I enjoy giving millions of other people who come to the site daily a chance to read my stories and give me feedback on it. I just hope you know that you're making a very bad decision....

- I have read and re-read the most recent announcements on ff.net, and I still come to the same opinion: Not only is it unfair, it is very much cruel. In response to one statement made in the announcement about chatroom dialogues and such, I would like to point out something. "...Having these type of entries on the site is unfair to those that have spent quality time fleshing out substantial content." SPENT QUALITY TIME FLESHING OUT SUBSTANTIAL CONTENT. By deleting the Music category, or any category for that matter that pertains to a "real person", you are flushing very valuable time down the drain that an author has spent putting their dreams and fantasies into actual words. Fan Fiction is a form of dream that one can use to feel like they have an actual connection with that "real person" they are writing about. An author is able to fly free in their dreams when they are writing. Fan Fiction is an escape to many authors. It also brings much joy. So tell me, is it a crime to dream and then write about it?

- Please keep this site open, for the good of all music fans and authors as well, who love to express their creativity by writing about people they love. Thank you.

- I think this is very unfair. I mean, theres no damage done writing about this kind of stories. Theyre something a lot of people enjoy reading and I find them as good as any other stories posted in this site. And let me tell you something.. I dont find any differences between them and those about comics,.. or tv shows, or anime.. or whatever theyre. So, All I ask is for all of you to be a lil bit fair and keep them on the site. Those are incredible writers who loves to write about the person they love and I support them in this petition.

- I think it is unfair what ff.net is doing. We work really hard to write stories for people to enjoy and it helps us free our souls and go to a place where we can express ourselves and not worry about what others think because there are many other people out there who feel the same way we do...why are you taking that away from us? after 9/11 writing was how I delt with the pain and the lost but now you took that away and I have nothing.

- I don't even write for the categories and types taken down, but I find this just plain wrong. FF.net keeps removing different categories and types of fics we can write. Aren't we supposed to be able to express ourselves on ff.n? Sure, bands and what-not are not derived from a previous plotline, but they should still be included. It IS fan fiction. After all, fan fiction is a story made up by a fan of a category. This means that all that was taken down WAS, in fact, FAN FICTION!

- What the heck is up with this I'm a music fan fiction writer and i think this is messed up why take away something that was doing good and then you go and take away the NC-17 stories too you know the main reason people came to this site to write and read was because it allowed so much now it's cutting back all this stuff it's so not right

- how can you be so cold and delete all our hard work? America is about freedom! freedom of speech in voice or in writing and with 9/11 people find comfort in writing even about celebritys. So for our sake please, please, please dont take that freedom away.

- Dear Fanfiction.net, I have been coming to your site for over a year and I am totally shocked and upset that you are getting rid of one of the most popular categories, Music groups. Since the beginning I have come here to read fiction based on Music groups and I really enjoyed the site because it was a one stop for great ficition about different things by different people. As a author of Music group fiction, I feel that discriminationis being displayed here. Unlesss you really do want to lose a ton of readers and fans, keep the site as it is or you evenetually will not have the support you will need later on.

- The reason I came to ff.net is because I suck at making websites, so I decided to use ff.net. Now after I have many fans for my stories, I'm stuck not being able to give them what they want. I don't think it's fair at all.

- I think it is ludicrous that fanfiction.net wants to take down all the real person categories. Obviously, real people such as actors, athletes, and musicians have fans, probably more so than fictional books and TV shows, so what is wrong with fans writing fictional stories about them? Thats exactly what fan fiction is, isnt it? Those stories fit the theme of the site just as well as fiction about characters in a TV show, movie, or book do. Why should it matter if the stories are about real people or fictional characters? Where are the people who post stories in the real people categories supposed to post their stories now? People loved ff.net because it was a place where they could post their fanfics for free, without having to know HTML, and get readers and feedback very easily. Now those who had stories about celebrities posted on the site have to find other places to put their stories. If you take down these categories, I can promise youll lose many of you regular visitors, including me.

- Reading a really great fanfic always brightened my day. I was sad the days it was not there, but I can't even imagine it never being there again. I have a passion for writing, and ff.net is my favorite site. Wait, let me rephrase that. WAS my favorite website. A place where writers could go and lose touch with reality. Forget about all the stress and problems for just a moment. Be in another land. A land where the people they love most are. I was never bored because I could always get on fanfiction.net. Now you have taken away from me. Please take this into consideration. Put the music groups section back!!
