We the undersigned support a competitive, recurring Film and Entertainment Industry Financial Incentive Program for the State of Florida that allows for the growth of the industry in all areas of the State, and nurtures an indigenous Film and Entertainment Industry.
We believe that this incentive will be most effective in attracting business to Florida if offered as a transferable tax credit.
The Film and Entertainment Industry provides high wage jobs, is non-polluting, contributes nearly $500 million in annual tax revenue and can contribute immediately to FloridaХs economic recovery and growth.
Historically, almost seven dollars are spent on Florida labor and with Florida businesses before one dollar is ever awarded by the State to the Film and Entertainment Industry. This is a proven revenue generating industry that provides an immediate financial return to our local communities and tax coffers.
We believe that a competitive, recurring incentive will result in increased production activity, support the existing infrastructure, provide a significant boost to our StateХs economy and offer increased promotion and exposure for Florida tourism.
Florida stands to further lose its existing Film and Entertainment labor force and infrastructure to other States if a competitive incentive is not put in place during the 2009 Legislative session.
We strongly believe that FloridaХs Film and Entertainment Industry is ready, willing and able to play a vital role in FloridaХs economic recoveryЙFlorida is ТCamera ReadyУ.
Please support the future of an important Florida Industry.

- As a resident of Broward County and living in the State of Florida for over 40 years, I strongly feel the Film incentive program would benefit the economy and livelyhood of many film professionals. We have the weather and the infrastructure to be one of the top Movie and Commercial producing States in the Nation. Please help us keep our jobs here in Florida.

- Not only does the Florida Film Industry offer tremendous revenue opportunities for the State of Florida, these films, music videos, and commercials shot on location in Florida offer a means of ADVERSTISEMENT for the TOURIST INDUSTRY. Every film shot on location in Miami, Orlando, etc. is not only shown to the entiriety of the USA, but to the world. This provides indirect advertisement for the tourist industry resulting in a tremendous influx of tourist dollars. The more films shot in Florida, the more people will want to come and spend their money here. That fact is undeniable. Please helps us in our quest to revive and fortify Florida's economy. Thank you for your consideration and efforts toward our cause.

- I am in full support of this group's effort to appeal to increase incentives. I have already been contacted by groups from other states that are interested in my movies being shot there. It's imperative that this be taken seriously. Business is business. As much as I love the Sunshine State and have made my home here for over 20 years, my professional endeavors will go where the business makes it most conducive. Also, it would seem that more attention has been given to "bringing in" production, which allows for paychecks to be taken away when the film is completed. Two words: indigenous production. I have projects in my current catalog that were written to take place here. Those projects could be produced, shot, edited, scored and released right here in Florida. So in addition to hiring more locals and just about as much money spent on hotels and food, when the locals go home, where do you suppose they will be spending their money? My door is always open for discussions on these concepts. Good luck! -RH
