We, the undersigned, request that the Scrutiny Committee and Cabinet of Surrey County Council recall the decision made on 13th August 2010 on the budget cuts specifically in relation to Surrey Careers and Connexions service, as we do not believe that representation was received from a wide and meaningful range of communities, including representation from UNISON and front line Careers Service staff.

    • Surrey is gambling with the future of young people. In an attempt to cut costs they are denying young people access to a valuable service at a time when they are facing severe difficulties in getting into college, training or work. Services to schools and colleges are also being targetted and only a minimal service will be available unless we challenge this move. Young people are our future and they deserve every possible chance to get a good start in life.
