User suggestions for a new Canon 500D firmware

On the 2th July you released a new firmware for the 5D mkII which allows the user to use manual settings in the video mode, but we heard that it is not planned to update the firmware of the 500D in that way. That is why we started this petition. We are the world wide 500D users.

We have created a list with suggestions for a new 500D firmware.
If you will bring out a new firmware with the settings that we have suggested, it will make the 500D even better then it is now.
This way you will get a better camera and more pleased customers.
It will open the amateur movie community to create great movies while using your camera.

We sincerely hope that you listen to your customers suggestions.

Our suggestions:
- Manual aperture settings in video mode
- Manual exposure speed settings in video mode
- Manuel ISO value settings in video mode
- Different framerate options in 720p mode(25 fps, 24 fps)
- Higher framerate in 1080p mode(at least 24 fps)
- Even higher framerates with lower resolution(60 fps)
- Different aspect ratio (like in cinema movies, 1,85:1, 2,35:1)
- 16:9 mask for photographys

    • Most important is manual override of the aperture, shutter speed and ISO value in the video mode... a necessity for a camera of this class. 24 fps in 1080p is a requirement, too, as the mere 20 fps makes the video mode useless with its major choppiness. The 8 GB size limit makes no sense, either, and the time limit should also be removed or at least extended. 720p video definitely also should be able to be recorded at a lower 24 fps, to match the required increase to 24 fps in 1080p (for editing purposes). If these things are all improved then Canon will have proved that they care about their customers, and then my next system camera definitely will be a Canon, again.
