    • This is a step toward third-world status and it devalues the collective energies of young people who seek entry into the Canadian workplace in order to fund the high cost of living and increasing tuition fee.s Given students who achieve do not get a tax break (all scholarships and financial awards are taxable), it's difficult enough to save money for tuition and books. We want to educate our population don't we? We want to strive for a literate and high achieveing workforce so that our county will advance in the 21st century as a progressive (and tolerant force). Given the high cost of living in Canada, a $6.00 /500 hour plan is a backward step; a retogression when we want progression. I am dismayed at the Liberal's suppport of such a scheme. A third-world wage only reinforces the fact we do not value our young people's energy or potential; this scheme does not build potential at all, rather, it devalues a valuable resource: our young people.at.
