To the moderators of fanfiction.net,
Your recent banning of 'blooper' fanfiction has prooved to be a bit of a nuiscance to writers who contribute to your website. I can understand the banning of author fanfics, as they are an invasion of the actors's privacy, and using the review space as a message board can be a waste of harddrive space. However, your bannings of MSTs and other various forms of work has annoyed many authors and I, as one of them, am requesting that you lift the following bans.
1) The banning of MST fanfiction
2) The banning of list fanfiction
3) The banning of blooper fanfiction
4) The banning of Harry Potter author fanfiction
5) The banning of original author stories
I'm also requesting that you inform an author if they have violated the rules before removing their work. Assuming that they know what they did does not help a problem get solved. Send them an e-mail informing them of how they broke the rules and give them a chance to fix it.
If there are any more requests to be acknowledged, please regard the signers' comments.
Thank you for your time.

- FF.net should be a place to let creativity grow, not be stifled. If you keep limiting what people can and cannot write, pretty soon only fictions you like will be allowed. What will be banned next? Parodies? Crossovers? Songfics? Slash? *shakes head* No more bans, please!

- There's a lot that needs to be fixed in FF.net. But this would be an excellent start.

- I discovered ff.net over a year ago and I can tell you quite sincerely that my life would probalbly be quite different without it. I LOVE FANFICTION.NET!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love being reveiwed and reviewing! Affecting others people work and having people to help me with my work. I have discovered that some of the most wonderful people in the world are ff.net authors and I have made some of the awesomest friends!!! But the thing I love most about ff.net is being able to post my stories, even if people couldn't review and I never got to know other authors. Some of the stories that I write are very much a part of me, it means a lot to know that other people can read them too. The thrill!!! Alas, like many others, I've worked long and hard on pieces and then been unable to post them because they have overstepped some rule. I very much agree with this petition!!! FF.NET AUTHORS FOREVER!!!

- Fanfiction is supposed to be a supportive place where we can post our writings and recieve helpful feedback... what help is it doing us if ff.n refuses some of our stories? It's denying us the right to write whatever we'd like, and I don't think that's just. If you want to have a successful writing community, you should base the contents on the visitors and writers. It is our work and we don't intend to do any harm with it. Banning certain stories is ridiculous.

- though I haven't really written anything that has now been banned, i think it's stupid to ban them as everyone should be able to write what they want

- While I have not written anything that was banned, I worry because there might be more and soon everything will be banned. Unruly posting and behavior should be removed, but most things that were taken out were harmless.

- I haven't had anything banned on fanfiction.net yet...but if I wanted to put something up in the future and it was banned, I'd be angry. Fanfiction.net is a place to express yourself, you cannot limit expression.

- I can understand a few of the other things, but I have a slight obsession with lists, and it just makes it easier if there is a whole section for them! That way, they don't clutter up the main areas for the other fics.

- In light of the fact that most fanfiction on the board is not actively supported by the original author I believe it is unreasonable that Anne Rice fanfiction is singled out for a ban. This is one of the most active arenas for fanfiction writing on the net, and I believe a great asset to your site as such that is sorely neglected.

- *grrs* I find it thoroughyl ridiculous that they've banned so many types of fanfiction. I am incredibly outraged over the banning of bloopers, because they are definately one of the funniest types of fiction. *stabs ff.net with a pencil*

- Look, I'm just as pissed as anyone else about the bans. Hell, I'm one of the leading MST authors on that site, but this won't help. I'm very sorry to be a Negative Nancy or anything like that, but I've sent mail to ff.net on many an occasion, and they're quite adamant on this. Truth be told, a good portion of the fics they removed were removed for a reason. A great number of MSTiers didn't ask for permission to write their MSTs, didn't have any side story to make it a little more interesting, or they just sucked fat man ass. Lists and bloopers don't really seem like fics that much to me, granted a great majority were pretty funny. The two latest removals I'm not sure of, but chances are there's SOME reason it happened. Instead of whining out ff.net, find other sites. there are a myriad of good MSTing sites out there, and ff.net isn't the only fanfiction site with lists, etc. If you want a link or two, go ahead and e-mail me, I'd be more than happy. And regarding Anne Rice, she asked them to remove it.

- I think fanficiton.net should be free to all fanfiction types.. i mean lists are really funny to read, and some people dont have websites to add them up.. it is really a good idea, dont you think? I think the only banning fanficiton.net should be entitled to do is plaigerism... that is just not a nice thing to do.

- I love to read stories on fanfiction.net! But I was pretty ticked off when a while back i went on a trip for a month and I came back ti find that I no longer had an account on fanfiction.net!!!! I'm not 100% certain that was because of all the bannings but it sure was becuase of ff.net cuase I didn't even know that you could remove an account! I also had to take the shock of finding all the stories I loved to read by other authors gone too! I hope that this petition will get the staff of ff.net's attention!

- There's a lot of legit MSTs out there- people MSTing their own work, people MSTing their friend's work with permission. A blanket ban isn't fair to the legitimate uses, and some of those are really good fics. And really, if someone MSTed my fic (even w/out my permission), I'd be flattered that they thought enough of it to take the time to do that!

- I personally think FanFiction.net needs MORE quality control, not less, so I support them in drawing their lines *somewhere*. And lists are NOT stories or literature, and there's no reason to have to wade through the Top Ten reasons Star Wars Rules to actually get to something creative and worthwhile. Sorry.

- I can kinda understand the MSTs, even though most were songs from what I saw. Lists took up some space, but they had their own category and could have just gotten a notice to move them if they weren't in there. Bloopers, well, I'm most known for my VHD bloopers so I'm pretty peeved about that. The e-mail notification for booting I totally agree with. That's happened to me twice and I didn't understand why until I was able to put the pieces together. Xing needs to let us voice our opinion on these things before he goes and changes it. A poll would be good. Still, in order to maintain sanity, I just tell myself this. "At least they haven't banned [insert subject/title here]." It's one way to keep from going mad.
