We, the undersigned, demand that the rights given to us by the Constitution of the United States of America be upheld. Schools are banning ANY religious symbols that are not Christian. This bans Jewish stars, any Pagan symbol, Hindu symbols, etc. Amendment I of the Constitution of the United States of America states
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
This states that there will be NO law that can restrict religion for any reason. Therefor schools have no legal ability to state whether or not its students can wear only specific religious symbols. Schools do have the right to restrict the dress of the students to non offensive clothing, but this does not give them the right to take away our constitutional right to display proudly a religious symbol.
We all need to fight against schools deciding to take away students constitutional right to freedom of religion. School administration should not be allowed to make rules that force our children into religious conformity. Action must be taken to deny schools the right to decide what religious symbols are appropriate for our children to wear publically.

- I am a proud Pagan and displayed my penticle proudly while in school dispite ridicule, and expect that my daughter will be able to wear one if she chooses and not have to deal with the same ridicule

- My school has a ban on "Satanic" symbols. This worries me as we are Pagan and we wear our Pentacles with pride. However, most Christians consider the Pentacle to be Satanic. We are not Satanists, Satan is a Christian deity, and we are Pagan. How can a school determine what is and isn't Satanic?

- Any school that tells my daughter she cannot wear her Pentacle will find themselves in court.

- What ever happened to the separation of Church and State? Seems to me that a State funded school shouldn't have ANYthing to say about a religious symbol.

- When you take away the rights of ANY American citizen, you take away the very spirit of America; freedom, diversity, and individuality. This is a democracy, and all Americans are granted inalienable rights as citizens of this nation. Our founding fathers fought very hard to establish these rights for us. Please do not shame them. -L.J.C.

- the idea of only crosses being allowed in school is absolutely ridiculous! not all religions use crosses, & that includes more than witches & wiccans. we ALL are guaranteed freedom of religion here!

- Students should have the right to wear non christian religious symbols in school. I am a high school senior and I wear my pentacle all the time because I am Wiccan and its my religious right to wear a symbol that signifies my religion.

- In the last several years, schools have made the mistake of thinking that they have more power than they really do. They have, for far too long, acted without being questioned. That time is coming to an end.
