We would like to suggest a path for the future development of the Sony Ericsson (Xperia X10, Xperia X10 mini and Xperia X10 mini pro)
Some recent developments on the Android platform have made the current OS software 1.6 outdated. Most of the current products sold by your competitors (e.g HTC, Motorola and Samsung) are currently running on 2.1 and some are already getting the new OS software 2.2.
The OS software version 2.1 has been announced for the end of the current year to be available on your Xperia x10 line, but the 2.1 update will still put your product behind the competition since even older devices will be running OS software 2.2 at that time.
The hardware specification of the X10 line is clearly impressive and should in theory be able to be quite competitive. Sadly, the hardware is extremely limited by the software, preventing us users from being able to utilise the full capacity of your device. Furthermore we are unable to make most of the applications available to Android users, since the minimum requirement for many applications is version 2.1.
Wireless technology is an integral part of everyday life and we as the consumer would like to request the new Android OS version 2.2 to be implemented instead of the 2.1.
We believe it would serve Sony Ericsson's interest as well, making your product competitive and expend your user base. As you know the Android platform is rapidly growing and update is the key of that success.

- The X10 have excellent hardware but the software is really not optimized. We are not even getting the performance of the 1ghz snapdragon as of now due to the lack of hardware optimization of the 1.6. SE really need to step up software wise otherwise they cannot compete with HTC. Talking about third party manufactuers, Motorola is one as well but their updates are alot quicker and they will be the 2.2 for their droid/milestone shortly after Nexus one. Motorola really rise from the dead with their new lines of androids and they are doing a good job of keeping the software update, you guys got a great product but please manage your software update department, this is just ridiculas.

- I was one of the first users of the X10 in the UK and probably in the entire world. I have more user experience of the X10 and it doesn't come with it's faults. My network provider T-Mobile UK still hasn't provided any updates whereas the rest of the UK providers have. Although I can see 2.1 as being a good update along with HD recording and wireless DLNA, facts are facts and 2.1 is old. We as customers want our X10's to be updated to 2.2. Many of us have already considered selling our X10's and moving over to HTC. I think it is in SonyEricsson's best interest to give us the latest update and if that is not possible, then please don't keep us in the dark as the Official SE blog is flooded with complaints and our concerns are going unnoticed. As an SE customer for over 10 years, this will be my last SE handset unless my expectations are met. Unless yourselves can prove otherwise. Best Regards. Mr I Usman
