Mattamy Homes is planning to build nearly 1000 townhouses on the Forbes Wetlands, an area of land between Guelph Avenue and Black Bridge Road. If they carry out their plans, they will be destroying the natural environment and wildlife that has lived there for so long, and forcing the creatures that currently live there to find a new habitat.

According to the Forbes Wetland website the area has 276 species of plants and 177 species of wildlife. The Forbes Wetland is their HOME, forcing them out will leave them with no place to go and thus many of them will die.

There are also several other problems that could arise with this development, particularly problems with Hespeler's sewage system and traffic-related issues.

By signing this petition you are saying that you will not stand for this wreckage of beautiful land, and that nature deserves to be left alone to thrive in its own way.

    • I don't like the idea of destroying more natural habitat when already so much has been destroyed for housing!

    • I live close to the forbes wetlands, and there are always families of deer and other animals enjoying their lives there! There is already far too much suburban sprawl in this area, it is not in the interest of anything but additional money to build over the thriving wetlands!
