I oppose the proposed budget cuts recommended by the Georgia General Assembly of $385 million of the University System of Georgia. These cuts will have negative implications on my education, and I propose that the Georgia General Assembly find alternative measures outside of higher education to supplement this proposal.

- These cuts are awful. I would like a college for my young grandchildren to attend. With these, there won't be any!

- Cutting education, particularly at at time like this, is one of the most incompetent proposals I can think of. It's equivalent to political suicide. If our state legislature would think that we would sit idly by and allow such a travesty to occur, they have another thing coming to them. Soon as elections occur, I'm sure the voters will reflect this.

- To expect us to achieve, you must give us the tools. Slashing our resources for higher education is damaging all around, both for students, and the economy as a whole

- My wife has put everything that she has into the program that she is in and these budget cuts will destroy everything that she has worked so hard for. Cutting majors? This needs to seriously be rethought!

- It is obvious in USG's response that the Legislature proposed $300 million+ cuts will critically damage state higher education both immediately and as far in the future as anyone can predict.

- A increase in Georgia Tech tuition will put this school out of my price range. This school is amazing. This budget cut can not pass!

- I don't know how they expect any university to function and be a vital part of the USG when they are cutting important programs such as Nursing and MBA.

- I understand the Legislature's need to make sacrifices and spending cuts during major budget deficits, but cutting between 300-400 million from the University System's budget is a major step backward for publicly funded higher education in Georgia. After all the progress we've made in regard to increasing the quality and reputation of our universities, thanks to HOPE, the proposed funding cuts will cause the overall quality of education to drastically decrease. The money our state government spends on higher education is a relatively small price to pay compared to the benefits of a more educated and productive populace down the road. I urge every Georgian of voting age to keep an eye on their state legislators voting records, and if they have voted or will vote in favor of such massive cuts to the University System's budget, VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE in the next election. Make them pay for their irresponsible and poor decisions.

- These budget cuts are unnecessary and serve only to line the pockets of those who already have shoes on their feet and food on the table. These cuts will make higher education even more unattainable to those who truly need it most. Shame on you, GA, and what a pity.

- I pay state income tax in georgia and yet out of state tuition. I plan on staying in georgia in the future and would hope that the legislature would see the benefit in making sure that I receive a quality education. If tuition goes up much more I will be forced to return to my state school.

- I can barely pay for school now, how do you think this is going to make it easier for us? You are going to see a huge drop in admission rates if you do this!!!!! You do realise this is an election year, WE WILL VOTE YOU OUT OF OFFICE!

- These cuts are harmful to the education of current students as well as prospective students. Georgia Highlands has the top Dental Hygiene program in the state and due to the proposed cut we will be forced to eliminate that program, which offers affordable and accessible healthcare to the community, as well as top training for our students. Obesity is one of the main problems facing Americans today, and with this cut we will be forced to eliminate the PE department. How is any of this beneficial to the community, students, and America in general?
