Petition to remove restrictions for bicycles-on-board MTA Metro-North Trains

We, the undersigned residents of New York City's metropolitan region, hereby petition MTA Metro-North and the New York and Connecticut State Departments of Transportation to amend relevant policies to allow bicycles on board trains without permits or temporal restrictions.

We petition that all future train car purchases, purchased in Connecticut or New York, include design specifications that provide for on-board bicycle parking.

    • It makes good sense to make space for bicycles on trains. It works in Europe and our environment will benefit greatly.

    • I commute weekly by bike and Metro North, but I know many riders who can't do this because of the peak-train restrictions - let's encourage more commuters to go by bike and reduce traffic all around.

    • I commute fully by train from October through April, and then commute by bike from May to September. My commute is about 23 miles from Stratford to Wilton. I am in full support of any policies that help alleviate traffic and dependency on automobiles and fossil fuels.
