  • This decision is outrageous and ignorant. I have been a member of the Wilmette Park District's performing arts program - as a performer and staff member - and while I have utmost respect for Bob Bierie, I have no desire to ever be affiliated with this program again unless the decision is reversed. I know many others who feel the same way. This decision not only proves the board's lack of interest and dense view of the performing arts, but also ostracizes many of its loyal and (once) enthusiastic and proud members.

  • The muscial RAGTIME is based on E.L. Doctorow's masterpiece of the same name. It is a work of Americana and of enormous relevance, particularly today. As in Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, politically inappropriate language serves as a means to communicate true understanding and clarity between all people, regardless of race, gender or creed.

  • The performers have worked too hard to cancel it. The Officials should have read the show a year ago when they chose it. Cancelling it at this point will be detrimental to the park district theater program, Many performers will think twice about auditioning for a group that might cancel the show at the last minute.
