Are we so entrenched in a 30 minute world of bad one-liners and people eating baby pig testicles that quality programming gets the proverbial shaft? Such is the case with the cancellation of Fox's 'Wonderfalls', the most inventive show to come down the pipe in years. Television has gone rediculously downhill not just in the past few years, but in the past few decades as well. Staples like "All In The Family" and "M*A*S*H*" would never make it in today's TV market and we would be without truly classic television. 'Wonderfalls' was one of those shows and in the hearts of many, will continue to be.

All it takes to realize this is a hop and skip over to eBay to see shirts, bags, and props selling for hundreds upon hundreds of dollars. Continue hopping and skipping to message boards, fan sites, and the like. People watch the show and quickly fall for it.

From Exec. Producer Tim Minear:

"[There's]not really anything you can do. The network is a non-starter here. The studio, 20th, is possibly a different matter. If they get the sense that people would buy a complete series DVD set, it might happen that the series becomes available in future. But please don't waste your time or money on trying to revive 'Wonderfalls' for a pick-up with FOX. Ain't gonna happen."

Case in point: 'Tru Calling' pulls a 1.3 share on a good night with poor reviews while 'Wonderfalls' pulls in triple the points with glowing reviews...and 'Tru Calling' is spared. Something stinks and it ain't the bodies in the poorly-lit morgue.

What truly frightens us the most is what the cancellation of a show like this means. It's a big, juicy metaphoric example of the mindlessness of the Now-Television viewer where everything has to be pre-packaged, pre-destined, and pedestrian. It turns our collective stomachs.

Heeding Mr. Minear's advice, this petition is not to revive 'Wonderfalls' on a weekly televised basis, but to put the episodes to DVD. Nine episodes sit at Fox, doing nothing but building a fine sheen of dust. Fox is sitting on gold, they just need to realize it. Such was the case with 'Family Guy', such can be the case with 'Wonderfalls'.

Fox, with this petition, we strongly urge you to consider releasing the complete 'Wonderfalls' series on DVD, for the fans of the show and for the people who will become quickly converted. Think of this petition as your own talking cow creamer, stuffed frog, or deformed wax lion. Do the right thing.

It's up to you.

    • Saw some of the show and what I saw was pure quality. TV is truly going down the tubes. Try and create a new format, like pay per download tv or something. TV is dead.

    • This year is the worst year ever. One year after hearing about Buffy ending, we here about Angel... which is more of a slash to the heart because it was so unexpected... and NOW Wonder Falls. I knew WF would eventually get cancelled because its FOX, they dont like good shows (ahem, Firefly)... but I didnt think it would be THIS soon. Anyways... WE NEED the DVDs... and just like Firefly, they will FLY! We will see a Wonder Falls movie in no time after that.

    • This is terrible! My new favorite show sent over the FALLS in a barrel after just 4 episodes! It's a sad day for network TV when a smart, witty show like Wonderfalls doesn't even get a chance to build an audience. Please give us the DVDs of this season!

    • It's odd that I feel compelled to sign a petition for a television show I've been a fan of for four years, much less one I've only seen four episodes of. That's how connected I am to Wonderfalls. It's a shame the show will no longer continue to air but please release the DVD of all the episodes filmed. I didn't even realize there were this many fans already. Especially with all the talk it's getting now, I'm sure other people will be wondering what all the fuss is about. Hell, I was ready to drop that other network I've been religiously watching on Thursdays for the past 10 years, when I found out Wonderfalls had jumped to Thursday nights. It's a big mistake to end the show now, but there's still profit to be made - both in sales for the company and in closure for the fans.

    • Just learned that Wonderfalls is cancelled. WHAT?!?! It's only aired 4 episodes, and last week, it was put on Thursday against CSI & The Apprentice...how COULD it survive that? Intelligent shows just don't stand a chance anymore. Hopefully FOX will at least put the entire season on DVD/Video for the true fans to enjoy.

    • WHAT A SHOCK!!! One of the smartest new shows to come along in ages has now been axed w/o even a thought of locating it to a better time slot. It would've survived on Friday, but Thursday was the "kiss of death." Please allow those of us who loved the show and "got it" to be able to see the season in its entirety on DVD.

    • This is an OUTRAGE! Only 4 episodes, and the show is now gone! Is that even FAIR? Wonderfalls DID/DOES have a fan base, but not that many have Nielson boxes attached to their TV. The networks (FOX) don't care about good programming anymore. I guess we'll get yet another reality show in its place. Bring us the DVDs or Videos of the first season, and I'll be a happy camper.

    • Wonderfalls was quirky show that really entertained. I love the animated-not-so-inanimate talking objects. Were they all a part of Jaye's imagination, or are they the voice of God (or something else?...)? I would really like some closure to this series. Please release it on DVD!

    • It was a great show while it lasted! Too bad it wasn't allowed to have a decent time slot so it could find an audience, or an audience could find it! Such quirky storylines that actually had a message in the end. It's a real pity it couldn't have stayed around longer. I miss it already. DVDs Please...that's the very least you can do.

    • FOX has not given this show the credit it is due on prime time. At least give the fans of this show the opportunity to see the complete season. Wonderfalls would have been a gem for Fox, a break from the total takeover of reality tv.

    • It's a sad day indeed! Wonderfalls cancelled after only 4 short episodes. This was a terrific and intelligent show, well written and well acted...plus the backdrop of the beautiful Niagara Falls. It could've been a huge hit for FOX if they'd just given it a chance. We really need it on DVD to enjoy the adventures of Jaye and all the talking creatures that we've grown to love these past few weeks.
