We need a sidewalk from ITT Tech on Gandy Blvd to US 19 N.
This is a dangerous road. A lot of ITT Tech students walk and ride their bikes to and from ITT Tech using Gandy Blvd to US 19 N. Some of them are most likely riding or walking to the bus stop on Gandy Blvd or to Shoppes at Park Place.
We have to walk or ride our bike through the grass, dirt, debris, or in the road to get to or from school or the bus stop. This is a public safety matter that need to be addressed immediately.
"Q: How do I get sidewalks on my street?
A: The Planning Division annually develops a sidewalk improvement program. On an annual basis, $90,000 is put aside in the Capital Improvements Program (CIP) for sidewalk improvements. The City's goal is to have sidewalks installed on at least one side of every street within the city limits, beginning with our residential neighborhoods. To keep costs down, annual sidewalk projects are concentrated in a specific geographic area of the City. This method allows the contractor to remain in the same general area for the duration of the construction period, thus the City is able to get more sidewalks installed for the investment. Installation of concrete sidewalks along City streets are completed with a minimum of inconvenience to residents. For further information about the sidewalk program or to make a suggestion about an area of the City in need of sidewalks, please contact the Planning Division at (727) 541-0704. For further information concerning construction, please contact ! Engineering Services at (727) 541-0754."
