On November 18th, 2009, during a FIFA World Cup Qualifier between France and Ireland, Thierry Henry committed two clearly visible fouls that led to the French game-winning goal. A free-kick set up the scenario, at which point Henry was clearly offsides. This foul went uncalled, and set up the second foul. As the ball was about to go out of bounds, Henry used his hand to bring it back in bounds, and passed it to William Gallas who headed it in for the final goal of the game, which resulted in France gaining the World Cup Berth and Ireland being sent home.

This quote (taken from http://www.usatoday.com/sports/soccer/worldcup/2009-11-18-france-ireland_N.htm) confirms the above statements: "I will be honest, it was a handball. But I'm not the ref," Henry said. "I played it. The ref allowed it. That's a question you should ask him."

We are petitioning France's 2010 FIFA World Cup Berth, in lieu of an Irish one. We feel that the outcome of the game was unfair, and goes against FIFA's focus on fair play. If FIFA has no power to fix this situation, then:
A)Sepp Blatter, FIFA President, MUST reevaluate his stance on use of video replay in high stakes games such as this one.
B)If Henry clearly admits to handling the ball illegally to gain an advantage which led to France's victory, then Team France should concede their berth to Ireland for use of illegal hand contact to win.
