Petition to Ellen Degeneres and Regis and Kelly to Help Dom Get His Freedom Back!

Dear Ellen Degeneres and/or Regis and Kelly,
I'm writing to you on behalf of Dominick Evans. Dominick is 28 and he's in a wheelchair. He has a muscle disease known as Spinal Muscular Atrophy. He can no longer walk and requires an electric wheelchair to get around. Dom lives in an incredibly inaccessible house.
He can only get in TWO rooms of his house. He can get in the living room and the bedroom. He can only get to the bedroom by way of Hoyer lift because his wheelchair won't fit around the corner in the hallway to his bedroom. The rest of the house is small, there is at least two steps to certain rooms, and the bathroom is impossible to navigate, even with his Hoyer lift.
As a result, Dom must sponge bathe. He hasn't had a shower in five years. He never complains, either. When in his bedroom, he must stay in bed. When in his wheelchair, he can't leave the somewhat cramped living room. Add in the fact that we live in a county with very little services that can help Dom or my grandson who has Aspergers/Bi Polar and we're in dire need of raising the money to move to nearby Washtenaw County, to a much more, wheelchair accessible home.
To limit Dom's freedom even more, we have no accessible vehicle, so not only is the house small, he's pretty much trapped there 24/7. On occasion, he gets out to drive around the driveway during the summer, but winter months means he simply cannot get out of the house.

- Please help Dom! My daughter is 4 and has the same conditon as Dom. We are in the same boat, but at least now my daughter is still at the age I can pick her up. This is not the case for Dom. I can only imagine what it must fill like to be confined to two rooms in your home with no way out!
