The 20,038 fans that assisted to that match witnessed one of the most important moments of football and indeed of sport history in the last decades: Rene Higuitas Scorpion kick. This move has been labelled as a genius moment by the BBC, included in the networks year 2000 montage of the greatest moments in Wembley stadium, and awarded number 94 in Channel4s 100 greatest moments in sports.
