On the evening of January 1, 2005, a man drug an injured horse off his overloaded stock trailer at a gas station in downtown St. Louis. Witnesses say although the horse was unable to get up, the man beat her repeatedly then tied her to the back of his truck and drug her across the parking lot. He then hitched up his rig and left after leaving a phoney name and phone number.

Hours later, after no medical attention arrived, it was discovered the man cancelled the veterinarian who was called for the horse. This 3 year old mare did not receive any medical attention until the Humane Society and veterinarian arrived approximately 6 hours after the incident began. Her injuries were so severe, she had to be euthanized after a 24 hour hospitalization.

The man has been identified and will soon be charged. We urge the city of St. Louis to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law.

    • I am appalled at the inhumane and cruel way this man treated this poor innocent horse. People who abuse animals, often abuse people. He deserves to be in prison.
