I think it's time that Canada as a multi-cultural, democratic nation offers it's citizens a public holiday for each religion occasion.

It's an opportunity for all Canadians to enjoy any religious holiday and the ability to appreciate each other's religious beliefs and therefore strengtening us as a people and nation.

For those who say that this is not realistically possible take into account that a country like India that is multicultural and multireligious society, celebrates holidays and festivals of various religions, including Hindu, Musilim, Sikh and Christian and Chinese holidays while still be a rapidly high-growth economy. In economic terms this means christmas like economic activity.

Imagine a day where it does not matter what religion you follow, but you have the ability to celebrate and get a deeper understanding and respect for your friends, collegues, relatives who are of a different religious denomination. All Canadian citizens of all religious denominations get Christmas Day off today and as such benefit from the Christmas. This petition offers all Canadians of any religious denomination to benefit.

Imagine what it will do for Candians:
1 - Increased retail shopping during these religious holidays. Like Christmas, Valentine's Day or Back to School these could be good for the economy.

2 - An opportunity for every Citizen to recurperate

3 - An opportunity to finally show that we are multi-cultural by taking the opportunity to celebrate the occasion with friends or neighbours who are of a different religious denomination.
