It has come to our attention that there are individuals using eBay, other Internet trading companies, and general public forms of trade to raise funds so that they can finance the adoption of a child from overseas.
When the trading of goods and cash is situated alongside the trading/transferral of children from one culture/country to another via adoption - it leaves eBay and other internet sales and auction businesses (and the individuals who are doing the fundraising) vulnerable to charges of human trafficking by members of the adoption community and general public who find such an act irresponsible, distasteful, and unethical.
Such trading activities ultimately expose the family - and more importantly the child - to significant risks of being humiliated. In particular, an innocent child (the object of adoption desire) does not deserve to be publicly singled out as being the recipient of charity or 'bought' via funds raised over the internet or through any other fundraising activity that reveals their identity - especially their photo.
Please change your policies to disallow this tasteless practice on the Internet.
Sincerely
The Undersigned

- I think this acceptance of raising money on Ebay to fund adoptions deplorable. I am an Adoptee and am horrified that this is being allowed.
