To the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,
We the people of the United States are sick and tired of hearing actors and actresses step up on a platform to voice their opinions on the situation in Iraq. While freedom of speech is certainly one of the most coveted liberties in this country, too many actors are taking it upon themselves to use their celebrity and their wealth to influence others. Unfortunately, thier are people out there that will say to themselves, "Gee, Martin Sheen believes in no war. I should too" without formulating their own opinions.
These actors try to claim that blind faith in our leaders will only cause trouble. Well, blind faith in people who are nothing more than entertainers will get people killed.
The Academy Awards are to be a celebration and honoring of the best that the movie industry has to offer. Sadly, many actors will take it upon themselves to use this as a political forum. This is NOT the place for this, nor should any more time be given to these people.
Therefore, a BOYCOTT OF THE ACADEMY AWARDS SHOW and all sponsors that pay for commercial time is called upon unless the Academy forewarns these actors that their comments are not welcome in this forum. We do not wish to hear the opinionated comments of those that do not have any reasons to be spouting off, other than a political bashing of our leaders. Our troops are overseas right now, preparing for war, and the last thing they need are people that unfortunately have influence over others because of a skewed idea of what idols are in this country.
This BOYCOTT OF THE ACADEMY AWARDS and it's sponsors will hopefully signal that Americans as a whole do not wish, or need, to have the opinions of actors and actresses who use thier celebrity to get air time.

- that's crap over the last months many polls have been done almost daily via the internet and questions have been asked pertaining to whether or not people follow celbrities opinions. Out of thousands of votes very few said they were influenced by the likes of Martin Sheen. Come on give Americans some credit. I'm sure petitioner if you had a mic and an audiance you would say what's on your mind to ----- your exorcising your right to petition aren't you??????????

- If you are so disgusted with the way the US works, how about donating your salaries to those of us who have jobs and have more to worry about then whether or not my jewlery will match my latest evening gown. Believe me, we could use it....go out in the community and live the life of someone middle class for a day...

- Please see the following petition against Scientology. They have hijacked Canada and are holding millions of Canadians hostage. Their internet service providers such as Erthlink, AIBN and Cogeco and are preventing their own customers from accessing Internet and receiving and sending email. They limit Internet access to only certain sites in public libraries, schools etc. They control all communication and delete voice mail and email. Their doctors are vampires in white coats who put anyone who opposes them into their wards and turn them into zombies or worse. See the following link: They are preventing input into this site: http://www.petitiononline.com/cofs1/petition.html

- The Acadamy Awards are for entertainment, not a platform for entertainers to air their political views and try to influnce the public to their way of thinking. President Bush has all the information and the celebrities don't, I for one won't continue to watch award shows if the celebrities keep this up. The Acadamy should not allow this type of behavior, in some cases the statements are just slanderous dribble against their own government and that is shameless. Thanks.

- An anti-war sentiment is not necessarily an anti-american sentiment. In FACT, statements against the policies of the current administration are usually NOT anti-american. DISSENT IS PATRIOTIC.

- For year's I have watched the Acadamy Awards. I'm going to be 58 and it was a tradition in my household. But these actors and actresses have no business using this forum for the political view's. This is an awards ceremony for acting and movies only. I will boycott your ceremony and products by your sponsor's if another tirade by Michael Moore or the likes of Susan Serandon is made. Bring back the dignity the Academy Awards use to have.

- The only reason why we like you (actors) is because you play pretend and dress up really good. Now shut up, put on your make-up, and ACT.
