We, the fans of the Harry Potter series, respectfully petition the Nobel Prize Committee to seriously consider our nomination of Joanne Kathleen Rowling for the Nobel Prize in Literature. The literary works of Ms. Rowling have been widely received and acclaimed all over the world. The magic of the Potter books is drawn from history, rich in context, and lush in detail. She uses magic as a metaphor for empowerment, a manifestation of human intelligence, bravery and grit. Her work is complex yet it is a simple tale of good conquering evil. It is a tale that illuminates the fundamental truths about the human condition.

We say that the impact Ms.Rowling has single-handedly had on the promotion of literacy, of engaging children as well as adults all over the world with books again, has made her a worthy candidate for this prestigious award.

    • In a world filled with technology, books have been overlooked. Interest in literature has declined. But J.K. Rowling has done the world a wonderful service...she has gotten children and adults to read! Because of her works, I am reading more than I ever did. My young niece has gained a greater love of books as well and her reading level has improved more than her family could have imagined because of the Potter Series. I feel J.K. Rowling has given a great "benefit to mankind" by giving the world back the love of reading!

    • I really think J.K should have a Novel Prize in Literature, not only because she bring back joy into our lives with her stories, but also because she captivated million of minds all over the world, and not only kids, but adults too. Me for example, I'm 16 years old and I love her stories, and the message they transmit.

    • I think Ms. Rowling should win the award because of her genius in writing the series, her tendency to inspire children or youths to read more and, of course, her success in making the Harry Potter series a fantastic read.

    • i think that JK Rowling should win it because she has written a series of books that children are reading. The children are now reading instead of watching TV or being on the computer. I think it is a wonderful thing she has done and thats why i say please let her win it.

    • Short of Tolkien, no other author has had this kind of impact on our youth. She is inspiring them to become more than they are and to open their minds to limitless possibilities. From the time we are born,we are taught in a very structured enivorment, about how we should percieve life.J.K.Rowling has given the message to children to step outside this structure and once again ask questions. With so much of our ancient past devoted heavily into myths and legends, are we 100% absolutley sure that things are as we percieve them, or is there a whole other world lying right in front of our eyes, and we are just to narrowminded to see?

    • Please keep in mind the TRUE importance behind the Nobel prize! It does not entail elitist intillectual prowess(which JKR possess anyway), but rather the ability to reach and help a huge portion of the general populace. This is J.K. Rowling!

    • wow, the truth of the matter is that joanne's books are AMAZING and really do not get enough recognization for being works of art. not only are they increadibly fun and thought provoking to read, they are extremely well researched. it's not just a bunch of piddle paddle thrown together to take up nearly 900 pages; people, places, names, and things actually mean things. hehe, AND joanne has inspired SO many kids to go back to books. harry potter books are so much better than the movies that it's made me read other books. harry potter books are the best i've ever read. it's amazing that a book can tear a person away from television, the computer, etc for however long to read the entire thing straight. they're just that good! :)

She accomplished her goal, and will be an idol for many people, for the rest of their lives. She's given a glorious thing called 'hope' to her fans.

    • I really do believe JK deserves this. I used to hate reading and only would do it for school, and even then I wouldn't actually read everything. Ever since I read Harry Potter again, though it was 2 years after I first had read it when it was new, I really enjoy reading now. To me that seems like someone who really did something incredible when people of all ages enjoy books that can be read through any generation and will be timeless. JK does truly have a gift and I hope she is recognized for it and not critizised just because its a popular book among most kids, but remember that they aren't the only ones to enjoy reading them.
