We note the Scottish Police Services Authoritys paper on Forensic Service Modernisation.
We recognise that even world renowned and acclaimed organisations such as the SPSA are not exempt from the requirement of aiming for continuous improvement.
However we are concerned that this paper, whilst quite rightly sets out a variety of option, includes a number of which propose the closure of the Aberdeen Forensic Service. We believe that these options would have a disparaging impact on both jobs and service delivery.
We apply to Scottish Ministers to ensure that Aberdeen Forensic Service is kept open to continue to provide a vital link with police and other law enforcement agencies in solving crime in Grampian, Highland and Islands.

- The Forensic Services should retain a lab in Aberdeen, otherwise central belt will have full control and other Forces will be at a disadvantage when it comes to solving crimes.
