Jacksonville, NC Skatepark - Let the BIKES IN!

The city of Jacksonville, NC has a skatepark which prohibits the use of bikes on their facilities. Their reason for not letting bikes on the park varies, depending on the individual you ask. I thought this was a PUBLIC Skatepark? It should be open to the whole public. Last I checked, bike riders pay taxes too! If you are a bike rider, or someone who believes bike riders should be allowed on the skatepark, please sign this petition. BMX and skateboarding can co-exist, this has been done many other places and works!!

    • Not allowing tax paying bmxers into your public park is discriminating against a group of people with a similar interest. To me, this is no different than not letting an African American drink out of a "white only" drinking fountain back in the ugliest days of our countries history. If you and your city are going to discriminate, atleast you can give bmxers the same second class citizenship that African Americans recieved during the "serperate but equal" era. Looks like Jim Crow hasn't died in Jacksonville.

    • I drove down from Cherry Point one afternoon to be turned away! There is no real reason bikes can't be let into the park! Seperate session times work wonders if your really that worried about it!
