We, the signers of this petition, propose that the Kansas City Zoo located in Kansas City, Missouri, not be a part of the budget crisis resolution. We believe the KC Zoo is a fundamental part of everybody's childhood, and this zoo needs to remain open and fully operational. The Mayor, Mark Funkhouser, should keep his eyes on the problems that truly need a look at, the KC Zoo is not one of them.

    • My Grandfather, Leonard Faulkner, was responsible for much of the construction. Furthermore, I go to the zoo at least a week out of the two months that I have off during the summer.

    • By being the cause for the KC Zoo to close, you will personally be responsible for the loss of MANY jobs, ruining many people's careers and financial lives, and cause many endangered species to become homeless. This is not a good idea. I'm sure there are other options. Not to mention, it's a great place for children (which is one of your goals..."kids") to get an education and have a good time. There are not many places in KC for kids to go recreationally...by limiting that further you are will be severely hurting the community. Think this through thoroughly....please do what's best for the PUBLIC, not just your reputation in office.
