  • The LSU Rural Family Medicine Resdency Program needs Dr. LaRavia's vision, knowledge, and enthusiasm to survive and succeed. The Residents who are preparing to serve as Family Physicians in rural areas need the expertise and knowledge that only Dr. LaRavia brings to this program's faculty. The citizens of Washington Parish and Bogalusa need his medical knowledge and vision of excellence in the practice of medicine. He serves the community in many capacities as well, and if LSU forces his departure through his dismissal as Program Director, the entire medical, social, and economic fabric of this area will be affected. It is a travesty that the big city "powers that be" at LSU-New Orleans were able to swoop in on this small community and attack it in such fashion with no regard to the needs of its citizens!

  • Let me say that the firing of Dr Dennis LaRavia is a complete disgrace and let me say that as a PAYING customer if his termination stands I along with my entire family will support a complete termination of the residency program in Bogalusa.   • Dr. LaRavia has been instrumental in giving respect and credibility back to the Bogalusa hospital system. His dismissal from the program is very detrimental, not only to the program, but to the community as a whole.

  • Dr. Laravia has been instrumental in rebuilding community confidence in local medical care as well as attracting new physicians to our area. Many patients continue to drive to St. Tammany Parish for healthcare. Under his leadership, we are starting to see a shift of medical business back to the local community.   • Please reinstate Dr. Laravia as Director immediately. His leadership and presence in the Family Medical Program is vital to the success and growth of our medical community. For the first time my entire family can remain in Bogalusa for their medical care. In a very short time Dr. Laravia has managed to create a medical environment that one can trust and rely on. People no longer have to leave town to receive good medical assistance. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
