We have to band together and create an online petition to KEEP NC-17 fics on Fanfiction.net

They have no right to trash the kinds of fanfiction we love to read. Romance, Violence...

They have no right to get rid of those kinds of fanfiction.

Doesn't it defeat the whole purpose of the site? Of the archive? A collection of fan-based work, nothing more. There are too many fuckin' rules, and they have no right to do this to us. TO squelch our creativity!

    • FF.net has already taken away HP and original fics, not to mention outtakes! What's the point of writing if it gets trashed?! At this rate the only thing that'll be left are anime fics that are g-pg rated!

    • The reason that was given for the decision to remove NC-17 stories is a questionable one, there will always be complaints about the material that is written about in these pieces of writing. However, everyone has the legitimate option to not read the piece. They do not have to read something if they choose not to, the NC-17 rating tells us that the story may have questionable material and it already restricts who can read it. Anyone who chooses to read it acknowledges that they are mature enough to handle the content. Removing NC-17 stories is not the solution to this problem, it stifles author creativity as well as violates our constitutional rights.

    • This is the first time I have ever taken my inner imaginings and put them into print. The positive response to my fic overwhelmed me, and writing it is truly one of the highlights of my life. The feeling one gets from creating something and having even one person out there like it is incredible, and now you are going to take that away? I beg you to reconsider!

    • It's unfair to ban a certain type of fiction. There is the explicit warnings on most all summaries, as well as before you are allowed to read it! Our writing shouldn't be banned because some people don't like what is written.

    • NC-17 fanfiction should be kept. It's a writer's world out there, and fanfiction.net's motto is : "Unleash your imagination and free your soul", which is all we are trying to do. Controversy does not matter. If people read the fic or not, it's their decision. The reader should be mature enough to notice a warning in the summary of the story.

    • To my way of thinking, fanfiction.net is not all it's cracked up to be. they're blocking and banning EVERYTHING, and this is the last straw. People should be allowed to freely write, post and enjoy erotica as often as they want to. If it gets negative or controversial reviews, that was the poor choice of the reader to read that particular story, not the fault of the author. People go where their muse takes them. NC-17 fics, wether het, slash or yuri, under any category, are also widely popular, and if fanfiction.net bans them, there will be quite a few aithors searching for a different fansite.

    • FF.N has the best policy for NC-17 fics I have seen, going as far having a little message of warning pop up before you read any fiction with that rating. People who are complaining just need to get it into their thick skulls that there is no way you can "accedently" run into a fiction you find offensive!

    • The different ratings are clearly marked and one does not have to read an nc17 story if one doesn't wish to.....It's as simple as that! If they don't want to read it they don't have to.

    • There's a lable on the stories that says NC-17. Why are there complaints being filed for the people who click into stories with the proper warnings? It;s unfair to do this and very rash.

    • There are many excellent quality NC-17 fics. A story's artsitic freedom shouldn't have to be compromised just because some people are too conservative to accept that life is not G rated.

    • Do we have the right to know the nature of the complaints against NC-17? If they are merely complaints against graphic content, then the fault lies with those who choose to ignore the warnings. If the complaints are otherwise, could they be made available so that NC-17 writers can more more mindful of these issues? Can we work together on this for the enjoyment of all? Respectfully Yours, Big Smirk.

    • just because some people don't enjoy this type of work, does that mean that it shouldn't exist? If we don't write what we feel, then where will the feelings go? Even if it keeps one person from sexual activity it has worked its buisness... PLEASE RECONSIDER

    • I think the thing is quite hopeless. They don't give a toss about our opinion, but still I want to let them know - I put my whole heart in my stories. Deleting them they will kill me. In the past year I was living only when I was on ff.net, I'm a loser in my real life. Ff.net was the only place where I could be myself, where I could "free my soul." But they decided to show me the limits of freeing my soul and ban NC-17. The site belongs to them. They can do anything they want and believe me - this petition will change nothing. But it hurts so much!

    • The censorship of a few should not guide the direction of many. Once you ban NC-17, the next will be the R-rated. Once you ban the R-rated, you will have to address the PG-13 Slash. Once you get rid of PG-13 slash, you'll have to look at G-rated slash. There isn't an end to it, once you start censoring.

    • Hey! What happened to freedom of speech? It happens to be one of America's most basic rights. I'm an extremely frequent visitor to the site. Why? 'Cause most of the GW and WK fanfictions that I like can't be found anywhere else. There's a lot of really talented writers out there, many who for one reason or another don't/can't have their own website so they kindly send their stuff to you to put up for them. Now where do all the websiteless fic writers go? Where do people like me (who like to read their fics) go? That is just so whack! Get with the program here and don't leave us out in the cold.....

    • It's all a bloody mess if you ask me. For god sake if this stuff offends you then DONT FUCKING READ IT! There are enough god damn warnings, and little kids shouldn't be surfing the net without adult permission. Besides if they can't get it at ff.net there's plenty of porn sits that are certainlly more graphic than fictional stories. Come on guys, you've just lost half your writting population.
