This petition's cause is to gather support to bring back Smooth Jazz 105.9 (WJZW) after it was reformatted by Citadel Broadcasting on Friday, February 29th 2008. The goal is to get enough signatures to show Citadel that people liked the station and that the public wants it back. This petition will be sent to Citadel as soon as a commanding number of signatures is reached (enough to be taken seriously by Citadel).

- As only one of the many disgruntled listeners I'll just say that I think Citadel mad a big mistake reformatting Smooth Jazz 105.9. It became a part of my routine and I am sad to see it go. Citadel has shown what it values most: money. NOT what it's supposed to value. The company should be concerned with listeners and not making a profit.

- I've been a Smooth Jazz 105.9 loyal listener for the entire 14 years that it was on the air. I am appalled that Citadel pulled the plug on a radio station that became an icon in Washington DC. And you did it without the approval or consent of the thousands of loyal listeners across the entire DC metropolitan region. Smooth Jazz promoted jazz appreciation in Washington DC, a city that has jazz clubs scattered all over the region - Blues Alley, The Birchmere, Takoma Station, to name a few. Plus 105.9 sponsored the Captial Jazz Fest every year. What were you thinking? Or maybe you weren't. And you now expect us to listen to your new oldies format? Not gonna happen. We want OUR radio station back, and with ALL of the wonderful people that you fired.

- The market share may not have been the greatest but the on-air talent and the music certainly meant a lot to the stations' "loyal listeners". Please consider bringing it back!

- I have been listening to this station for about 12 years. It is a great smooth jazz station, and should be placed back on the air. Thanks for the consideration.

- I was so disheartened to find out that the format on WJZW 105.9 FM had changed to "Oldies" on 2/29/08. Smooth Jazz 105.9 was such an integral part of my days... at home, while commuting an hour each way to/from work, and of course during my 8+ hour workday. This metropolitan area is so culturally diverse & sophisticated and needs a radio station of that same caliber. The wonderful music and on-air personalities lifted our spirits and brightened our days... Listeners truly loved this station more than you will ever know. We respectfully request that you reconsider your decision.

- The format change in and of itself is impossible to rationalize. The way the change was made is inexcusable. I will never tune to 105.9 again

- It would be a disgrace to let yet another family music station die because of some non-jazz listener caught up in a $oll

- I was shocked to turn on my pre set dail for 105.9 to hear that awful new music! I search all the dails for another jazz station and there were none! I think that's awful for them to remove such a classy venue for music that you can hear on any other station! Thanks for starting the petition!

- This station is one of the top 5 in the area...to do away with this station is detrimental to the owners and devastating to the consumer! For this station 105.9 serves and soothes all the businesses in the Metropolitan area.

- What were you guys thinking ? We loved this station. I had it preset in my cars, my home stereos and my mp3 player. I would wake up to it and sleep with it in my background. Its a shame that you guys pulled this stunt off.
