Dear Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President Mwai Kibaki, this petition is a plea to the Coalition Government of Kenya. In recent weeks, months and years, there has been a terrible and shocking violation of human rights through public executions, lynchings and mob injustice; all done by citizens of Kenya on their fellow citizens in the name of cleansing the society of the practise of whitchcraft or so-called witches. In the Kisii region of Nyanza province, many have been butchered especially old women. Because of lack of civic education and indifference by the police, the public have been involved in murder of their own citizens. If this and other vigilante type actions are not checked by your government, the murder of so-called witches will be a normal routine in Kenya. We very concerned and plead with with the Kenyan government to restore a sense of proactiveness through civic education in the community among citizens especially in the most affected areas like Kisii in Nyanza province.

- Just look at the history of the United States, we've already been there done that, and been horrified and embarrassed by ourselves. Don't repeat the mistakes of yesterday.

- This is an appallingly uncivilised practice which goes against commonsense and violates the dignity of older women. You should be ashamed that this is going on in your country.

- These are odious violations of human rights in Kenya. The government should act promptly and decisively to stop such practices. It is in the interest of both human dignity and the long term development of Kenyan society.
