Stop the Redistricting of Keone'ula Elementary School

The purpose of this correspondence is to voice our opposition to the Hawaii State Department of Education initiative to reassign the Keoneula Elementary School district lines. The Hawaii State Department of Education is planning to use Keone'ula Boulevard as the dividing line to determine whether children living in Ocean Pointe, Ewa Beach will be attending Keone'ula Elementary School or Ewa Beach Elementary School. One of the reasons we chose to live in Ocean Pointe is because we knew that our children will be attending Keoneula Elementary School; a school that was built for our community and yet sadly some of the children in the community will never be able to attend if the Hawaii State of Department of Education reassigns the district line. We oppose the redistricting of Keone'ula Elementary School

    • We bought into the Ocean Pointe Subdivision to have the brand new onsite elementary school promised, and to have it go to a different subdivision is ludicrous, and to have my child have to go to a school further away is also ludicrous!

    • I sign this petition as a means to speak out against the redistricting Keoneula Elementary. I also feel it is a shame that the redistricting coincidentally affects 65\% military families of whom already experience a tremendous amount of stress due to military moves. The redistricting in question is irresponsible governance and I disapprove of it.

    • We bought our first home in this location because of Keoneula Elementary. The current school district codes need to be enforced if the true intent is to evenly distribute school attendance.

    • We were told by Ocean Pointe that the new Keone'ula School would be for our neighborhood - it was one of the main reasons we decided to move here. Now that we have 2 children we are being told that when they are of school age they won't be able to attend the school promised to us. This is not only dishonest but hurts our property values when we decide to move. We live a 2 miunte walk from this school and moved here so we could safely escort out children to school.

    • I am in such disbelief that the Hawaii DOE would propose such a dishonest act. I have been a homeowner in Ocean Pointe since 2001. I have watched this elementary school go from concept to a great new school that was built for the Ocean Pointe community. Now that my children are almost at school age, you are telling me that they won't be able to attend Keoneula Elementary. I oppose this proposal 100\% and ask that you stop this act and find another solution.
