Veet Hair Removal Gel Cream is a damaging product. Those who have not yet been persuaded by the advertisements must be informed of its dangers. This petition is to remove the chemical-pumped Veet Hair Removal Gel Cream from all shelves in Canada & the United States.

In the Australian website for the Veet product in the FAQ section (http://www.veet.com.au/questions.shtml), it responds, (when asked if Veet mouse is suitable for sensitive skin), "No, the mousse product uses slightly different ingredients to the Cream as it needs to spray through the nozzle. The formulation is suitable for normal skin, but not for sensitive skin that reacts to a high pH content. Clinical studies show that the product is not an irritant."

Is that so? Certain chemicals used in Veet will, in fact, cause the skin to erode and/or burn in immediate contact. For example, urea is used in many products, but it is produced by a reaction between carbon dioxide and ammonia. Ammonia has the ability to cause severe burns to the skin if contact is any longer than a few minutes. Secondly, another component in Veet is calcium hydroxide, which is in reality a poisonous ingredient found in industrial cleaning products, as well as different types of cement. When exposed to ANY type of skin, calcium hydroxides symptoms are anything but pleasant. Symptoms include irritation, burning, necrosis (holes) in the skin or underlying tissues. Usually when skin is exposed to a damaging product, in the emergency room you can expect irrigation (washing of the skin perhaps every few hours for several days), or skin debridement, which is surgical removal of burned skin. In worse situation, hospitals may admit or transfer you to another hospital which specializes in burn care. Are these the chemicals we want to be putting on our bodies because we are immediately convinced by the advertisements? Lastly, another ingredient used in Veet is titanium dioxide. It doesnt have the lasting effects as the previous examples, but the symptoms which occur if exposed to skin are physical irritation with redness and swelling.

It is a must that such a product is taken off the shelves before it damages anyone else. Humans deserve products which arent damaging to their skin or bodies in general.

Please sign this petition so no one else will suffer from the permanent effects of such a damaging product.

    • I can no longer e-mail any of you in order to provide advice from my experiences, but I can make a suggestion on this petition that I encourage you to listen to: KEEP YOUR RECEIPT! Call the company and get your money back. If they do not comply, insist your money back and don't hesitate to tell them about your bad experience with Veet. Just make sure whatever you say is not a liability. Please inform others of this petition and get the word out that this is not a good product. Thank you for everything & I am greatly sorry for everything you all had to go through. If you have questions or concerns, you are welcome to e-mail me at mannik_82[at]hotmail.com .

    • This product is very harmful in my opinion. I used it once and I have severe burns on the backs of both of my legs and also it seems that even though the razor was 'bladeless' it cut me. I don't recomment anyone using this product. It hurts so badly.
