The aim of this petition is to demand the Australian Classification Board (OFLC) allow the release of the full (uncensored) version of Left 4 Dead 2 in Australia. On 15 September 2009 the Australian Classification Board announced they were refusing the classification of Left 4 Dead 2.

The Classification Board is the government body responsible for rating all video games content authorised for sales in Australia. According to the Classification Board website, Valve's upcoming first-person shooter has been refused classification for failure to adhere to the current maximum MA15+ ratings guideline. The announcement means the title is now illegal to sell, rent, or promote within Australia.

Information can be found on the Australian Classification Board website: http://www.oflc.gov.au/.

    • This is madness, seriously either give us an R+18 rating or harden up and just accept the fictional game.

    • Yet another move by the OFLC which shows how backwards the Australian games market is. Either introduce another system or investigate the current Australian market to indicate wherein lies the majority of gamers (Average age: 28). All this results in is the loss of Australian consumers to overseas markets and possibly piracy.

    • This is rediculous, I think people over the age of 15 should be able to play higher rated games. L4D 1 was accepted so why not L4D 2?

    • This is ridiculus. Majority of gamers are over 18, so why can we not have a game thats rated 18+? makes no sense.

    • Insane Australian laws are the laughing stock of the international community. This is yet another failure of the system, and this time one of the most respected an intelligent companies in the business has fallen victim. I don't want Valve to alter their game. I want the government to alter their law.

    • I believe I should be allowed to choose which games I play. I don't see how a Democratic Government can stop people being free to make up their own descisions.

    • It truly is time to bring Oz's OFLC into the modern world and have an R18+ rating for games. They are not played just by children anymore...

    • This is simply outragious. The game itself is basically a childs toy compared to more violent games. Take Fallout 3 for instance. If Fallout 3 was allowed, then L4D2 can easily be rated MA15+

    • We need to fix the ratings system so that the normal everyday gamer can enjoy the full (uncensored) version of L4D2 - a fictional zombie game.

    • It is unfair to ban everyone from a game based on the fact someone underrage might play it. It's fascist and unfair to those of us old enough.
