We, registered voters and residents of Los Angeles County, petition for regulations to be (1) created and/or revised (2) executed and (3) enforced, requiring the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) employees to perform sufficient routine maintenance* on its buses, so as to eliminate the severe noise pollution** they are causing throughout the Los Angeles Metropolitan area.

* Sufficient routine maintenance to be defined by the L.A. MTA authorities
** Noise pollution [as defined in Merriam-Webster as "environmental pollution consisting of annoying or harmful noise (as of automobiles or jet airplanes)] being caused by a loud "screeching" or "squealing" sound within the buses' mechanical systems.

    • I agree!!!! Could you also make them drive like they're sober as well?? They are the scourge of the roads and have almost killed me on multiple occasions!

    • Non stop high pitched squealing on the 33 and 333 route. And bus stops placed right in front of residential homes causing trash and vagrants.

    • I split my time between Los Angeles and Europe, and European buses are quiet. I find it hard to believe that quiet buses are not possible for the LA MTA.

    • Downtown will NEVER work as residential area if mindboggling noise is allowed to continue. I consider moving downtown L.A. the worst residential experience I have had

    • I live on 7th St. in downtown and have to hear loud buses trundling through my neighborhood 24 hours a day. The longest period of time I can go without hearing a bus at any point of day or night is 10-15 minutes.

    • In downtown LA almost all noise is caused by buses. When the buses are not running it is almost silent, but for a few police sirens in the distance. Buses are the noise problem and it just doesn't have to be that way.

    • I've seen how much these buses in LA produce and it needs to be put to a stop. Not only is it annoying but the long term effects of these noise around children can definately destroy their hearing. Noise pollution NEEDS to STOP.
