We, the undersigned, are signing this petition in protest of GMs reduction in dealerships across Canada. While we understand that a business needs to be profitable in order to continue operations, we disagree completely with the method GM has chosen to close dealerships. We believe in free enterprise, and that WE (your customer base) and the independent franchised dealers should have the right to have our voices heard.

We specifically are in opposition to the possible closure of the two GM franchises operated by Craig Lanoue in Tilbury, Ontario. The closure of these dealerships would result in the inability for us to continue to enjoy the unprecedented sales and service we have received over the years. The reason we come to Tilbury is the outstanding customer service we receive and as we understand it, General Motors has recognized this attribute as well, having awarded it their prestigious Triple Crown 11 times.

We understand Craig has agreed to terminate the Andre Lanoue Pontiac dealership because of the Pontiac brand being eliminated. However, it is our desire to ensure that Craigs other dealership Lanoue Chevrolet remains open in order to allow us to continue doing business with General Motors product. Please accept our signature below as confirmation that we support the Lanoue family and their long successful record of servicing our automotive needs and our local community.

Sincerely,

1433 Signatures

    • It would seem to me that a franchise that is operated successfully should be allowed to continue. The Lanoue family has been a landmark in the Essex -Chatham-Kent areas for decades. People from all over both counties travel the extra mile because of the reputation of fairness and the excellent service given. I will not purchase a vehicle from another dealer and if this franchise is terminated, I will not buy a GM product wbut will continue to buy whatever product lines that the Lanoue family offers.

    • as busy as this dealership is and the commitment to customer satisfaction that the lanoue family and staff demonstrate, i feel their dealership would be and should be considered an asset to general motors.

    • Don't close it, the Tilbury Auto Mall is the only thing Tilbury has going for it.

    • I strongly believe that GM should continue to have a presence in Tilbury as these dealerships have had tremendous success in the community. It would not serve GM's long term interest to close both of these profitable dealerships. It is understandable to close the dealership if the entire brand is discontinued, but it is not fair or justifiable to recommend both be closed, to either the employees of Lanoue, the community, or their many loyal customers.

    • To eliminate the Tilbury GM dealerships is the GM braindead move of the year!!! Tilbury has become a Mecca for car buying thanks to the Tilbury Auto Mall (which includes the GM dealers). People come from all over to purchase from the massive selections offered at the Tilbury Auto Mall.

    • I have heard from a number of people that if there is not a GM dealer in town then they will be switching brands. GM is only hurting themselves if they take both GM dealerships out of Tilbury.

    • How are you going to accomodate all the service customers, once you close all these dealerships between Windsor and Chatham? If you close all the GM dealerships in Tilbury, I will not buy another GM vehicle.

    • Closing an eleven time Triple Crown winner...just another example of GM's "overpaid and brainless" big-wig decision making. How many times do you have to win to stay open? You will lose customers over this. And that is a real nice way to repay the government who bailed you out...close dealerships and raise the unemployment rate. That is very thoughtful of GM.

    • I have leased a number of GM vehicles over the years. You already closed down the dealership that I liked to deal with, and if you close the one in Tilbury, where I go to now, I will no longer be a member of the GM Family! I want to deal...where I want to deal! Not where you tell me to!

    • This one of the few dealerships that thrive on making sure customers are satisfied and we show that by being a triple crown winnner 11 times. That must say something about the staff and the service this dealership provides. To me I think GM should have dealership that protray a positive image about General Motors. It makes business sense happy customers means everyone wins.

    • As an active member of out community, I have first-hand experience regarding Craig Lanoue's commitment to our community as a good corporate citizen. While I believe this move is short-sighted across he country, I actually KNOW the negative impact it will have on our community. Any brand loyalty GM enjoys in this community can be laid squarely at the feet of the Lanoue family and their continued efforts to make Tilbury a viable and vibrant community.
