My name is matthew jansing, and i guess you could just say that i'm your average 13 year old kid trying to make a difference in the world.

What my cause for all of this is, is for my group i've recently started, with the cheesy name of "let hope in" and it's a group dedicated to trying and improve the lives of others.

Allow me to be more specific on that. I am medically diagnosed with bi-polar, severe manic depression, and anxiety/stress issues so i have a very good idea of what a lot of the average depressed teen is going through, i've gone through quite my fair share of stuff in my life so far, i'm not exactly the most perfect kid at school, i get in quite a bit of trouble with them and the law so i can relate to the problems of an everyday teen, plus in my spare time i tend to study a lot about therapy and psychology, so you could consider me as an understanding person.

What i want to do with my group, is help convince drug abusing, depressed, suicidal, or just troubled teens with their problems in life, and convince them that if they just stop and think about it before they pop that pill, pull out that knife, or cut themselves, that if they can just stay strong and let love and hope into themselves, it will all get better eventually.

Now, my exact goal here with this petition, is my group wants to convince the city council of where we are based, Antioch California, to build a house, a type of "home away from home" for runaway or depressed teens, where they could come and have somewhere where they would always be welcomed, where they can get away from the stress of their daily lives and just escape, and if they wanted to, they would not be forced, but with their consent they could even have trustworthy, caring, emotional people on hand to stop and listen to them, give them help and advice, and care for them.

I believe that if a place like that existed, it could change so many things for the better, and so many lives for the better, it could be one small step to a world where razor blades aren't always the answer when you're feeling down, but rather, to stop yourself and realize that it will get better eventually, just let love into you, and let hope into you.

Hopefully i am not the only one inspired to help these people, as i am one of them, and i know what it's like, and a place like this is exactly what a teen needs, i would know from experience.

    • Only 4\% of the population cuts; Imagine how difficult it is to find one at my age. I believe that maybe, for once, we would be able to find hope.
