  • I feel any bylaw passed to inhibit a South African Resident to perform any rightful sale/purchase of a vehicle be it left-hand drive or right-hand drive is unconstitutional.

  • I do agree with Mike Egan and Alan McNab that the owners and drivers of left hand drive vehicles are responsible and usually collectors. I owe several left hand drives and have never even been in a dangerous situation - I am more aware, care for my fellow road users, myself and of course my car. By allowing the existing left hand drives to be ligitimate, will definately not set a president for production vehicles. Stop tampering with responsible persons and rather concentratre on more important issues.

  • This government is sometimes so detached from its people. My husband owns a left-hand drive ford mustang and we rarely take it out on the road, we mostly have it for show and have recently had a couple of offers on it. If this amendment passes, we might never be able to sell it, or even purchase a second one!!!

  • There are far more serious issues for the DoT to be worrying about instead of targeting LHD vehicle owners, like doing something positive about the lack of driving skills/qualifications by taxi drivers as one very important example. I would like to see the statistics of accidents caused by LHD drivers, compared to those caused by taxi's. trucks, unlicensed/fraudelant 'licensed' drivers, underage drivers, under the influence drivers, etc ad nauseum. I think it is also important for them to realise that its not the cars that cause the accidents, but rather those behind the wheel. You have to have a special license to drive a bike, truck, taxi, etc, if they are so worried about LHD drivers and whether they can overtake or not, then maybe they should rather bring in a special license category for LHD drivers, do the test, and prove we know how to drive our cars.

  • Have a better view on traffic from a left-hand drive vehicle than a right-hand drive vehicle.You also drive closer to the side of the road,making it saver for on-coming vehicles,because you can see better.I think they should have left-hand drive vehicles on roads where you drive on the LEFT-hand side & right-hand drive vehicles for where you drive on the RIGHT-hand side of the road in the world,would be much saver.Thank you
