Until such time as the Boy Scouts of America renounces its discriminatory policy with respect to gays and lesbians, I join with my neighbors in urging the Presbyterian Church of Laurelhurst to discontinue its sponsorship of the Boy Scouts and its Christmas tree recycling program.

    • The Boy Scouts have taken a principled stand here. Obviously, the vast majority of gay folks are wonderful people. But it's equally true the 100% of the predators allowed to mentor Boy Scouts and, indeed, have molested them --for which the national organization is being sued---are same-sex perverts. That is a fact which your illogical outrage can't fix. If the Scouts didn't take steps to protect boys from predators you'd rightly vilify them--and indeed have.

    • What is wrong with you people? Why can't you leave the Scouts alone? The Supreme Court decided the issue long ago - excercising your Right of Free Association *is not* discrimination. You angry little people need to get a life and mind your own business. Leave the kids to their fundraising. If you don't like the Scouts - take your tree somewhere else... Just shut up and leave them alone.
