We, the artists, instructors and other interested parties whose signatures are listed below wish to respectfully request that Clare Ferraro (President) and the editors of Viking Press (a member of Penguin Group (USA)) prepare for publication and re-print the collection of art instruction books by Andrew Loomis.
Widely regarded as one of the foremost authorities in the art field, Mr Loomis wrote a number of detailed, well-illustrated instruction books originally published by Viking Press in the 1940s and 1950s. Research into the value of these books, sold in used bookstores and by individual collectors, would show the potential marketing value of a new printing to be a viable consideration.
The books have proved an invaluable resource for self-taught artists and art instructors alike, and the beautiful illustrations created by Mr Loomis in the books appeals to art lovers and collectors everywhere.
We, the undersigned, believe that it is now time for a reprinting of these wonderful books.
