Petition to Keep the Hontalas Family at Louis Restaurant

Louis Restaurant has been in our family since 1937 and it needs some attentionit hasnt gotten a make-over since 1975 and the Hontalas family wants to spruce things up. To make it worthwhile for our family to make improvements, weve asked our landlord the federal governmentfor a long term lease. The National Park Service requires all long lease terms to be part of a competitive bidding process. This is where you come in! We want to show our landlord just how much a San Francisco tradition should be allowed to remain.

If you believe that the restaurant just wouldnt be the same without the Hontalas family-- add your information below to show your support!
And please know that we appreciate all your efforts on our behalf!

    • Louis' is an important part of my family's life. We live a few blocks away, and visit every couple of weeks. My son and I ate breakfast there the day he started 1st grade. And the Hontalas Family is an important reason that we go back!

    • Please provide a long-term lease. NPS revamp of the Cliff House ruined that as an affordable dining place for local families so please give back to the community by insuring that Louis can continue to exist rather than being turned into an overpriced tourist haunt,

    • We have been patronizing Louis' Restaurant for decades. We enjoy the homestyle cooking, friendly service and wonderful view. It would not be the same without the Hontalas family there.

    • Please don't remodel Louis' into a sleek/cold place like the new Cliff House. I survived prior Cliff Hse re-dos and the one before this last one had much more local flavor and entertainment w/ the store and its great Sutro Bath posters, the Toy Museum...not to mention the 75 cent Irish Coffees.

    • I have been going to Louis since before 1970.....This San Francisco landmark should remain with this family. I remember the waitress Rosie.....who would even after she turned 85 years old...would never write orders down.......and never make a mistake................the crew working out there is awesome.........why do we have to beg to keep great local establishments in the city left alone?................
