Louis Restaurant has been in our family since 1937 and it needs some attentionit hasnt gotten a make-over since 1975 and the Hontalas family wants to spruce things up. To make it worthwhile for our family to make improvements, weve asked our landlord the federal governmentfor a long term lease. The National Park Service requires all long lease terms to be part of a competitive bidding process. This is where you come in! We want to show our landlord just how much a San Francisco tradition should be allowed to remain.
If you believe that the restaurant just wouldnt be the same without the Hontalas family-- add your information below to show your support!
And please know that we appreciate all your efforts on our behalf!

- The Hontalas should be allowed to spruce up Louis' restaurant w/out fear of losing their lease. This establishment helps bring revenue to the area.

- Give the family what they want, please. I have been going to Louis' since I was a child. It is a beautiful place with a beautiful view. The pie is not too bad either.

- It would be a shame to lose another family-operated business to a government agency's blind bidding process

- I'm a former employee and I don't even understand why this is an issue. Louis' Restaurant, the Hontalas, San Francisco, all belong together right where they are.

- 3/4's of a Century. Are you kidding me? Growing up it was the Fun House, Play Land and Louis'. We lost the other two a long time ago. Please let Louis' stay for future generations.

- Louis' should be grandfathered in to any National Park plans. It's a San Francisco institution and it was here for decades before the area became part of the GGNRA.

- Please don't close this wonderful and unique restaurant. I'm a native San Franciscan, who now lives in the East Bay. I come to SF just to eat at Louis' and enjoy the view.

- Like many other spots in San Francisco, Louis' is a landmark, and deserves to remain so.

- This establishment should be protected by the historical preservation process. There are many precedents for this and it would exempt it from this type of governmental, bureaucratic intervention now, and in the future. Does Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, both part of the National Park system, need to jump through these unnecessary hoops when they need refurbishment? Of course not!

- My grandparents took me to Louis' for the first time when I was 6. They visited Louis' often. Im honored to say that years later Bill and Tom gave me the oportunity to be a part of Louis' history by employing me as a cook. Louis' IS part of the SF tradition, and can never be replaced!

- Louis' Restaurant run by the Hontalas family is a part of San Francisco and Richmond District history. Being family owned it has been family loved. My parents frequented Louis' often and were always welcomed warmly by the Hontalas family and made to feel at home. Louis', and the family that runs it, are all a part of what we love about living here!

- Every Christmas, after opening presents, we would walk to Louis' to have breakfast. It was the prefect restaurant b/c they were open, it felt holiday special, but also felt homey like you were around family.

- It is honestly the safest and smartest to keep events open till 4. I am from chicago and clubs are open till 5 and dont have dui issues like here cause people have time to sober up cause it gets late, now clubs are open till 2 here in la, people are intoxicated cause theres only 30 min window from closing bar to leaving, i know the city makes alot of money with dui's but isnt this the smartest thing to do? the city can put a tax on the venues to stay open later. Please consider this this will save lives.
