Women's equal citizenship rights are protected by the Lebanese Constitution and by international law, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. Yet women in Lebanon cannot confer their nationality to non-national spouses or to their children.

The current state of the law discriminates against women and undermines their status as equal citizens. Until women are recognized as full nationals and citizens in Lebanon, they cannot participate fully in the development of their families, communities, and societies, nor claim their rights in other areas of life.

    • This is not about mothers, ignorant fears, nor politics. "Lebanese" children of Lebanese mothers should have been given Lebanese citizenship at birth!... Give them their BIRTH RIGHT today... without any further delay!...

    • The Lebanese law is very outdated and needs to catch up with the 21st Century. If people are so afraid that Palestinians might get Lebanese nationality, then just include an exclusion in that law. Anyway, children of Lebanese mothers and Palestinian fathers already have refugee status in Lebanon and don't need residency permits...

    • I am with the woman giving her nationality to her children , as for the non-national spouse there must be some conditions in order to get nationality and not immediately by marriage.
