Downtown Almonte receives tourists all year long, whether they come to enjoy one of our many festivals, sporting events or concerts, to visit with friends, or to simply have a day out. Tourism is important to the economy of Mississippi Mills.

A staffed Tourist Information Centre encourages visitors to further explore our town, and provides information and encouragement to business owners and home owners who are considering a move to Almonte. In short, in encourages visitors to stay and spend money in our Town.

We, the undersigned, would like to make known our belief that the Town of Mississippi Mills needs to provide a staffed Tourist Information Centre, within Downtown Almonte, which is open all year long.

    • Another empty building in our downtown helps nobody. The OTL is a beautiful building which attracts countless visitors. Not having a presence there would be yet another failure to support your jewell (downtown Almonte)

    • 90\% of my business comes from from outside M.M.To have a year round Info centre would benefit the down town core. Using the Old Town Hall is ideal. It just so happens to be the starting point of the River Walk! Location. Location. Location!

    • We need to encourage people to visit our town, especially the beautiful downtown. Now that basically ALL Essential services have been taken out of the downtown, only tourist traffic will help it stay viable. Unfortunately, we have become no better than a suburb, with all services at the edge of town. how sad!
