More Info at:
We, the undersigned, request that Apple Inc. officially acknowledge and address the defect in their LCD Displays. The defect causes vertical lines (cyan/yellow/pink) to appear cutting through the screen and multiplying as time goes by. Unfortunately, the problem starts to appear right after the end of the one year warranty. This problem has been filling up the Apple's online discussion forum and with no possible solution. We are the loyal Apple fans and would love to see Apple show its appreciation by stepping up to this issue.

- Problem happened after 5 years, but the computer is still used daily (updated memory & HD) - One wouldn't expect the lcd screen to fail under normal use.

- According to Apple there was a service program that wasn't publicized, you had to call and ask. My iMac was an AppleCare replacement for a bad IMac G5 that went bad. However, Apple never registered the replacement so when I called they said they had no record. I tried again recently and they say there are no parts.

- There is obviously a manufacturing flaw and Mac should be willing to cover it even though it is out of warranty. Microsoft did this for defective XBoxes and Mac should do the same.

- I have had this Mac for less than four and a half years so should be covered by the Sale of Goods Act and European legislation. Yet Apple staff have treated me with nothing but rudeness and contempt.

- My display has been getting progressively worse since the fall of 2009. What started as 2-4 flickering vertical color lines has now become a half screen monitor completely burned out. This is obviously a manufacturing problem, Apple should act accordingly.

- My problem is that Apple has known this to be a problem with this generation of iMacs. I have been told by the Apple people that had I brought my machine in within three years of purchase, they would have fixed it. Without knowing that it was a problem Apple would have fixed it because they had discovered it was a problem off the assembly line. I wished they'd told me. The alternative is my laying out $600. That's screwed up.
