A True Monument to Tolerance

We the undersigned implore the board of directors and staff of the Simon Wiesenthal Center to stop immediately excavation in Jerusalem's Mamilla cemetery for the proposed Museum of Tolerance. We urge them to show courage and commitment to co-operation worthy of the Center's namesake, Simon Wiesenthal of blessed memory. Find an appropriate alternative site OR work with all parties to create a plan for the current site that meets the concerns of Jerusalem's Muslims. Make a true monument to tolerance.

    • It doesn't matter what was believed about this site for most of this century; it matters what is believed now that bones have been found. It's hard to imagine anything less respectful of the museum's own mission than the decision to keep building it.
