We want our MAP Van back! We need it for health and safety and to let us know where the girls are at all times, so no one goes missing. The violence and brutality has decreased since the Van has been on the road. The VAN has the knowledge of the bad dates, through the girls and for the girls.
Without the MAP VAN the risk is higher for STDs and communicable diseases as well as isolating the girls. It is easier for the girls to report bad dates to the VAN because the VAN staff are easy to talk to and THEY ARE USUALLY THERE WHEN VIOLENCE HAPPENS!

Stop funding 2010 when we need this safety net. The Olympics are for two weeks and this is for life. We demand that the MAP VAN stay on the road.

    • This is an essential service. The Map van has been the eyes and ears for the sex workers. If we do not keep ourselves involved predators like Pickton will keep targeting this vulnerable population. Our government really needs to step up and take responsibility to provide this essential service. They will be held accountable when the violence escalates once again.

    • MAP is an essential service for vulnerable women who often face extreme barriers in maintaining control of their health and safety. Survival sex workers experience violence and discrimination daily. One man has been convicted in the trial of the missing women, but women continue to disappear. We need services like this to ensure that unsafe sex and sharing of drug paraphanelia does not become commonplace out of necessity, as it was before these programs were implemented. The health and safety of any segment of the population directly affects, and reflects, the health and safety of the entire community.
