Subject: Parole Denial to Mary Elizabeth Rice, GDC ID 0000829957
Dear Parole Board Members:
We, the signers of this petition, are requesting the Board to deny parole for Mary Elizabeth Rice whose hearing is scheduled for August 28, 2009.
On August 28, 1993, Mary Elizabeth Rice ruthlessly murdered her husband Mark Berry Rice while he slept. Mary Elizabeth Rice took away a beloved father of three, brother, son and friend to many. Mark Berry Rice can only live in our hearts and minds and feel that it would be an injustice if Mary Elizabeth Rice were allowed to go free while suffering no remorse.
We believe the facts surrounding the brutal murder she committed and her remorseless behavior that followed shows her as a reckless, violent individual with no regard for human life. We believe that imprisonment cannot reform her and that society would be at great risk if she were to be released.

- I think releasing her would put the public at a great deal of danger. So its up to you to release someone who shows no remorse for what they did. Dont think it will be a good act to do that. Lets look at it this way. Whats in the best interest? Release a murderer who never showed any emotions , Or protect the public. Not a hard decision. Hope you dont make the wrong one..

- Not only did/does Mary Elizabeth Rice have no remorse for her actions, she had no consideration for her 3 children whom she left with no parents because of her actions. No benefit would come to her now grown children or to society if she were to be released.

- 3 children have had to grow up without their parents due to this womans greed, letting her out now that they are all grown would be nothing but a bigger slap in the face to them

- this woman should never see the light of day, nor taste freedom from her confinement, there is no measure of punishment that can equal the pain and sorrow she has inflicted on the family..I miss my best friend, my brother, and the best musician I've had the honor to share the stage with in my life

- Mary Elizabeth Rice is, not was, a cold blooded murderer. Time does not alter the facts in any way. Not only does she show no remorse, but she doesn't even have enough decency in her being to tell the whole truth so that all involved can be brought to justice along side her. By allowing her freedom, you would only be opening a door to even more lose and tragedy, if that is even imaginable. Mark's family and friends have to live each day with the fact that he was stolen from us all, please don't add to the anguish of this family by making everyone live with the fact that she could be walking free among us. Remember... the facts don't change because the clock has ticked forward. Keep her in prison until her last breath is breathed.

- To allow an unremorsable person to any kind of freedom is sickening....she has took a very special man away from his 3 wonderful children, his loving family and many friends! All these people will never be FREE from the tragedy so why should she be FREE of anything!!!
