Marlton Circle Elimination-Stop The Overpass

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that NJDOT and our government officials abandon their plan to replace The Marlton Circle with an Overpass and instead replace The Circle with an "Intelligent Intersection with Smart Lights".
We are strongly opposed to an Overpass that will result in complex road configurations, bypass local businesses, fail to resolve traffic congestion within a very short distance in all 4 directions of this intersection of Routes 73 and 70, and change the "small town" character of Marlton. reference: www.MarltonCircle.com
We request that the millions of dollars saved (close to $50 million) be spent to resolve other traffic problems in the immediate area.
We further request that NJDOT and our government officials get seriously involved in meaningful conversations with Marlton's local residents to achieve satisfactory results to the traffic congestion with which we are required to deal on a daily basis.

    • NJDOT & Evesham Township officials need to revise the currently proposed Marlton Circle replacement overpass construction project. Access to Main Street from SB 73 is to snake under the overpass???!!! How is this a remedy???! This project is to go on several years without FIRST wisely widening ALL the smaller side roads that are the last stop right before the circle??? This will FURTHER WORSEN traffic congestion, air/sound/trash pollution, decrease commerce & hinder rescue crews necessary access to Virtua Hospital on Brick Road, Evesham Police, Fire & Ambulance access to Main Street. This negative impact will be felt by ALL the local inhabitants, emergency crews, employees, merchants, work commuters, casual shoppers & shore vacationers driving in Marlton city limits. WORSENING THE EXISTING CONGESTION, CREATING JUGHANDLES & FURTHER OVERLOADING JAMMED SIDE STREETS is not a viable option. Brick Road jughandle MUST go. Widen Main, Maple, Greentree, Lincoln & Cropwell before anyone embarks on this project.

    • I just don't think that we need to do it. Sufficient traffic lights are fine. There is no need to spend all that money for that. It functions and suits all the traffic. If you need to spend money, help the senior citizens with paying school taxes when they are retired and living on their dead husbands pensions and social security. Or other things like air conditioning in the schools so that the kids can think in the hot weather. I could go on and on. anyway, think twice before doing this much NOT NEEDED projecct. thank you for reading this...

    • I agree wholeheartedly with my wife's comments. Totally unnecessary to have such an abomination on a beautiful town. A simple straightforward intersection with jughandles should do the job.
