We, the residents of Milton, Georgia, do hereby petition the City Council and the staff of the City of Milton, to reduce the speed limits on all city controlled streets, where they are set at 45 mph, to a maximum speed of 35 mph. We support the implementation of altered speed limits and feel that it will improve the safety of our neighborhoods and community.

    • The sooner we implement a 35mph speed limit and enforce speed limits in both our open road and subdivision neighborhoods, the better off we will be.

    • Our roads are not wide enough for current speed limits. We have more homes/residents per mile than when these speed limits were issued by the County or State. Safety on our roads should be the City of Milton's primary objective.

    • I feel there are many roads that need to be looked at again in regard to possibly adjusting the speed limits. There are many homeowners on our open roads who daily pull out into direct traffic at speeds of 45 mph or greater. This poses a real safety issue and danger to those residents and their families, friends and neighbors as well as those traveling our roads. Thanks for bringing this speeding issue to the attention of the residents to hopefully determine and change the speed limits on those roads which incur the most speeding.

    • I really would like to see the speed limit reduced to 35, because I get angry for getting honked at from the cars behind me which are right at my bumper when I go the exact 45 speed limit. They all would like to fly through our little beautiful town. So let us stop it, with bringing the speed limit down to 35 . I really would love to see it. It would be also so much better for all the people riding their bikes.

    • Enforcement is the key here. I see City of Milton making large sums of money through enforcement of the speed limits. Mountain Road has a 35mph speed limit and cars speed down the road all the time but I don't see any recent enforcement. So if there is no enforcement then why change the speed limit or even have speed limit signs? City of Milton needs money so why not start making it legally?
