We support the use of the former site of the Wilshire Village Apartments on Dunlavy and W. Alabama for civic spaces in order to enrich the Montrose community. We are opposed to the appropriation of the land for a chain supermarket that will displace existing business and stifle the opportunity to maintain the integrity of the Montrose community, which has been and continues to be a great draw for tourism and gives vitality to the people living therein.

- Children on swing sets and communities growing veggies and fruits together is just a LITTLE bit better for our progress as an evolving species than an H.E.B.

- The space at Alabam and Dunlavy was a wonderful community oriented space. It is a shame that the complex was not maintained well, but it would be a travesty to see tacky commercial use take over land that has the potential to be a great green space for the Montrose community to utilize.

- I strongly oppose an HEB, and I find great value in using the space for local business and culture to thrive.

- Yeah my zip code shows that I live in Dallas. However, no big city needs massive chain stores. Keeping stuff local keeps it greener and can build a sense a community.

- This is a Landmark opportunity to truely demonstrate the "local" mindset developing and maturing Houston as a great, southern city. Check out this video from ted.com; regarding livible community space design to get the gist of what this petition is about. Thank you! http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/james_howard_kunstler_dissects_suburbia.html

- I no longer live in the state, but the last thing that area needs is another chain store. R.I.P. Book Stop.

- I think this lot is ideal to cultivate as a green space as already has good trees that have been thriving and having lived within a block of this area for while, I don't see how a major chain store will benefit this community. The road conditions alone are reason enough to keep out the traffic that a large store would generate, not to mention that this remains one of the quieter parts of the busy Montrose area.
