Motorola Bootloader Unlock Petition

Alright everyone, so Motorola has started locking the bootloaders on their mobile devices such as the Motorola Milestone, Droid X, and in the future, most likely the Droid 2 and any other upcoming phones. Motorola mobile phones are usually extremely high powered, such as the Droid X with its TI OMAP 3630 Processor clocking in at 1 Ghz and the dedicated graphics chip, the PowerVR SGX 530. Us, as the Android community, have been greatly let down due to the locking/signing of the bootloader, restricting our access to install custom, homemade ROM's for the devices that take use out of the high quality hardware and software. We understand what they are trying to protect by locking the bootloader, but the the Android community is almost fully based off of ROM's, hacks, etc. Sign this petition if you would like Motorola to either unlock the bootloader for us or give us the key to unlock it manually.

    • If Motorola's bootloaders do not get unlocked I will DEFINATELY be buying a Samsung the next time around. Development is 100X better for Samsung. People are sick and tired of the lies about the unlocking tool from Motorola and so am I.

    • Motorola as you already now HTC has unlocked there bootloader!! Why haven't you? You can't hide behind Verizon won't let you because HTC did it. I have a year before my phone renewal and I will NOT being getting a Motorola phone if the bootloader is still locked by then. I've already place a hold on buying a Xoom. Hurry up!

    • Frankly it doesn't prevent people from bricking their phones in the least bit; not with the determination of android users. If anything it discourages the phones development into a higher quality product which in turn calls for more customers with a quality product. I wouldn't have bought my X2 if the XDA community wasn't making it a practical device. Next time when i'm picking i'll be putting more effort in avoiding phones that don't allow you to make them work as you'd expect it to.
